About our school

Coonabarabran Public School is renowned for its academic, cultural, sporting and welfare programs focusing on the needs and care of all students.

Supportive networks between teachers, students and parents are well established. These ensure that students' personal and academic needs are met. The school emphasises literacy programs and is particularly focused on early intervention programs within this area.

Coonabarabran Public School is also at the forefront in performing and creative arts programs which are recognised by the wider school community. The school has been recognised for displaying best practice in the integration of students with special needs into mainstream classes as well as for the outstanding technology resources available in the school.

Local attractions such as the Warrumbungle National Park, Siding Spring Observatory, Skywatch and Burra Bee Dee Mission are utilised in educational programs offered by the school. To support Coonabarabran as the "Astronomy Capital of Australia", the school changed house names to give them an astronomical theme. New house names are: Asteroids, Comets, Meteorites and Satellites.
